Book Recommendations

I've finished reading Jonah Goldberg's book Liberal Fascism: The Secret History of the American Left, From Mussolini to the Politics of Meaning. It is an extremely well researched treatise on Fascism throughout the 20th century, showing the continuity that the historic Fascist movement has with what is popularly termed "liberalism." Ron Radosh gives a helpful overview of the book and its relevance to contemporary discourse in his excellent article "America's 'Fascist Moment'".

I've also finished reading Malcom Gladwell's book Blink: The Power of Thinking Without Thinking. Drawing on a wide range of research in many different fields, with the most fascinating anecdotes sprinkled throughout, this book is a very entertaining exploration of how our brains work.

Finally, I have reading Herbert Schlossberg's book Idols For Destruction: The Conflict of Christian Faith and American Culture. Written in the 70's, the book made many predictions which have come to pass with the flowering of Postmodernism. Sclossberg offers insightful commentary on our culture's decline in many different areas, although he is at his best in his treatment of our society's economic idols.
