"Legislation has been filed that would require group insurance to cover
gay and lesbian infertility treatments just as they do heterosexual.
But, as I note elsewhere,
AB 460 isn’t limited to a finding of actual infertility. Nor does it
require that gays and lesbians have tried to conceive or sire a child
using heterosexual means, natural or artificial. Rather–as with
heterosexual couples–merely the inability to get pregnant for a year
while having active sexual relations is sufficient to demonstrate need
for treatment, meaning if the bill becomes law, it would require
insurance companies to pay for services such as artificial insemination,
surrogacy, etc. for people who are actually fecund. Indeed, since the
bill prevents discrimination based on marital or domestic partnership
status, theoretically every gay and lesbian in the state could be deemed
infertile for purposes of insurance coverage merely by the fact that
they don’t wish to engage in heterosexual relations." Wesley J. Smith, from CA Legislation Would Require Insurance for Gay “Infertility”
Watch for women (XX chromosome---with intact womb, eggs) to be the beasts of burden here (at least for XY XY gay couples.
ReplyDeleteProbably blonde, athletic scholarly young women will particularly be sought out, HYPER blasted with fertility drugs...for those couples wanting eggs.
Probably similar males will be sought out for sperm...for XX XX gay couples.
And possibly some of the XX gay women will even hire out someone to carry the baby to term...
And we all may well pay for all this...
Watch for XX XX couples to search out the "ideal male" for sperm.
ReplyDeleteWatch for XY XY couples to search out the "ideal female" for eggs.
Probably gullible college students will be the main source. Already, young women (most likely the nordic blonde scholar athlete) get paid for their eggs...they're too naiive to realize the longterm emotional and physical consequences.
In the young woman's case, she may have to be HYPEr blasted with lots of fertility drugs (and of course noone cares about later possible damage even tho question about past fertility treatments do show up on some gynecology forms I've filled out).
And the XYXY couple will hire some woman to carry the fertilized egg...possibly some of the XX XX couples may also hire a surrogate.
The possible emotional damage to the surrogate (giving up a child you carry) of course is "unimportant".
There may still be a few hundred thousand leftover eggs from past infertility customers---watch for some of those eggs to be "sold".
(Who knows...someone may experiment with human/animals...All sorts of possible configurations here...and we all may be paying for it.)
